March Beauty Favourites

7 April 2015
Somehow I've only gotten round to doing my first favourite post of the year, and we're three, well four months in... what can I say this year has started off crazy and hasn't slowed down since, its been all systems go and sadly blogging has fallen by the wayside as a result. This month however thats going to change, no it needs to, I miss blogging. I'm inspired and can't wait to write some new posts  & you bet as soon as I get some proper lighting I'll be getting my routine back up and running, so as a sort of apology, here's my March beauty favourites.....

As its coming into Spring (well meant to be, we'll ignore the thunder storms outside for the sake of this post) I like to switch things about and although I'm usually a full coverage, matte kind of gal I like to wear as light a base as possible when the suns out, praying my skin isn't acting up and making me self conscious (big tip: drink as much water as you can, clears your skin up in no time), last summer BB cream was my best friend.

I'm sort of in the middle of mixing up my foundation routine and also just wearing concealer a lot of the time so thats why I haven't featured any this month but primers a different story. I've been switching between two primers as of late, to combat the shine, the well loved Benefit Porefessional which just so happens to keep my skin looking fresh all day and the second being the 17 wow three way highlight which I didn't think would be my cup of tea at all. I simply mix a little in with my foundation and it creates the perfect healthy glow.

Lips and blush are the main switch in the spring/summer seasons, they're a must. Is it just me or do baby pinks just scream spring? The two lip favourites I've been loving is an Urban Decay revoloution lipstick in Streak which I bought late last year in the summer but never really got the benefit from because in no time it was time for the Autumn shades. It's a brighter pink than I'm used to but it's not too Barbie-esque either so I'm hoping I get my my use out of it this year, the formulas really creamy and it actually lasts quite a while. I've also featured one of my favourite MAC lipsticks, please me, it's matte (I couldn't stray from the matte too much) and is the most gorgeous everyday baby pink.

Lastly I've been loving my Illamasqua powder blush in 'Hussy' which I always manage to forget about, its a really lovely colour and honestly I should probably put it on my dresser to make a conscious effort to use it! So that's it for March, I know I usually do two favourites post, beauty and non beauty but I haven't loved anything overly non beauty so I'll make up for it in Aprils posts.

P.s what have you been loving through March, beauty or non beauty?

Weekly Ramble #9

18 January 2015
Well, this weeks been in simple words, a very sleep deprived week and if you read my last post you'll known I'm on the hunt for the perfect concealer for just that reason, any suggestions are welcome! I started my placement which was nerve-wracking and exciting all rolled into one and of course after me complaining for the past three months that we hadn't seen snow yet it came the one week I wasn't really feeling it, just my luck eh....

We had some unexpected snow and boy did it look pretty // I found in my stash and rekindled my love for my Urban Decay lipstick // The fluffy jumpers were out, any excuse really // I also ate my first creme egg of the year, its started.

I though I'd insert a picture to let you see the snow, it wasn't too deep that you were confined to your house and snowed in but it was enough & if I didn't have to traipse about in it I'm sure I'd have enjoyed it a bit more, snowball fights anyone? I thought the snow and combination with the church were just too pretty not to instagram, even if it did mean getting a few looks from passing cars. The snows more or less gone but the bitter temperatures are still here unfortunately, the hats and gloves might be out for a while yet!

I actually own two of Urban Decay revolution lipsticks but you wouldn't guess it. I haven't actually used them all that much, including a red that would have been perfect for Christmas time damn and they'd been lying at the bottom of my stash so when I came across them on the weekend I did a little happy dance that I've two more lip products again. The pink lipstick is much more suitable for day wear and its a lovely colour that I already know I'm going to wear to death and that's a big thing considering I would usually stray away from pinks.

Also as a result of the colder weather the fluffy jumpers and polo necks have been out, a lot. They're just so snugly and probably as close as I can get to wearing fluffy pyjamas or a onesie in public. I'm also trying to more experimental with my hair and instead of just leaving it in the mornings, I've been playing about and this morning it was a plait (that got caught in the rain and curled itself) but I swear it was a plait. Also I had my first creme egg of the year, I'm already seeing Easter eggs everywhere and I love it. The malteaser bunnies are also out too and I'm sure I'll be eating plenty over the next couple of weeks! They're heavenly. All in all, it's been a quiet but fun/hectic week :)

P.s what have you all been up to this past week, anything exciting?

Urban Decay: All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

19 November 2014
After posting my 'blogging update' post at the start of the month I sadly haven't posted as much as I promised, all my excuses can be found here (link) but I haven't even had a minute to watch xfactor and thats serious business. I feel like a workaholic, kudos to anyone who has a proper full time job and blogs on the side, it takes some serious organisation! I'll stop before I really ramble, todays post is all about the Urban Decay all nighter makeup setting spray, an absolute life saviour in a bottle.

My typical Saturday as of late is to wake up around 8 to get ready for the day (including doing my makeup) and leaving the house for work and then travelling to my other work, usually I don't get home until after 10 at night so you can see why I need long lasting makeup on my face. Although MAC and Estee Lauders foundation do the trick (in lasting terms), I can't justify using them all the time because they're blooming expensive (well compared to drugstore) and I like to save them for more special occasions.

The all nighter spray is you might have guessed by the name is ideal for nights out when you want your makeup to remain on your face but I've found it comes in handy for day to day use too. I purchased this via Cohorted a few months back - an absolute gem of a website for beauty lovers, definitely check it out! I'd been eyeing up the full size spray for ages but I couldn't justify the price tag but then this travel size appeared and it sounded perfect. Its usually priced around £9 but I managed to get it for £6, an absolute bargain and next time its on the Cohorted website I'm definitely going to stock up!

Its so simple to use, I simply apply it after my foundation and powder, now it does take a bit of getting used to, at first I thought with my eyes shut I'd miss my face but that was all just in my head. My makeup stays in place so much longer and has a sort of fresh glow to it, something that comes in handy for someone who usually forgets to apply primer (beauty sin, I know!), its also oil free so its suitable for all skin types and when this is finished I'll definitely be re-purchasing.

P.s have you tried any of the urban decay sprays, what do you think?

Higher End Haul

4 August 2014
For the past month or so I've been trying to avoid going shopping in town & reel in my spending a little, saying that theres nothing like online shopping and there have been some wonderful offers that I just couldn't ignore resulting in a largeish haul. Most of these thing were on offer so they weren't bought full price and the odd one or two were presents so I most definitely didn't rob a bank to buy it all but most of the beauty items had been on my wishlist for agesss so I could justify the splurge!

The first item, my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation I bought from a blog sale about a month ago and as I'd heard so many good things about it and it was £20 including p&p I just knew I had to have it and so far I absolutely love it. I'm actually writing a post including it and a mini review soon so keep an eye out for that one.

The second thing, was the YSL rouge volupté shine lipstick - for I don't know how long I've wanted to own a YSL lippy, they look gorgeous and ever so luxurious but I could never justify the £25 price tag, in fact I was deciding whether or not to get one with my Boots points but then Feel Unique had an amazing offer, £10 off if you spend over £25 so I snapped one up & technically this only cost me £15 #bargain and has now taken pride of place on my dresser.

The third order was again using the Feel Unique code and I purchased the Urban Decay Basics Palette and an Urban Decay Revolution lipstick totalling £27, now I'm not the best at maths but £5 for an UD lipstick sounded pretty good to me. I chose the colour 'turn on', a lovely pinky shade and on a side note the lipsticks individual names are amazing, I hate the whole number instead of a name thing.

When I went to Glasgow there was a Benefit stand on the boat and as I hadn't owned anything from there I just had a look around and my dad kindly bought me the Benefit bad gal duo - I know theres a lot of hype about the Benefit they're real mascara but this one not so much so I'll let you know if I get on with it or not.

Lastly Debenhams had a £5 off all lipsticks for National Lipstick Day and I might not have been quick enough to get the shades that I wanted before they sold out, bear in mind it was two in the afternoon but I did manage to pick up 2 M.A.C lipsticks for my collection, Crosswires and the famous Rebel (which is being set aside for the autumn months) and then a Urban Decay lipstick in Bang because I own no red lipsticks - which is crazy. It was basically a 3 for 2, since two lipsticks came to the price of three and I love a good bargain.

Since buying all of this I'm now putting myself on a spending ban for a bit, I think I need one lol! Let me know if you've tried any of these things or bought any nice things lately?

An Old Love

23 February 2014
When you hear the phrase eyeshadow and the brand Urban Decay most people tend to think of the well known Naked Collections and little else. However I purchased this little gem of a palette ages ago and it was doing nothing but sitting at the bottom of a drawer in my bedroom oops. It wasn't until recently when I was tidying up that I came across it and fell in love all over again.

This palette has been out for a while and as far as I know it was limited edition (don't quote me though it might not have been) but if it was then I'm happy I purchased it at the time. Although this might be the case I'm sure it would still be available on Ebay and elsewhere if you still wanted to get your hands on it. At first I was drawn in by the bright packing which is decorated in animals such as dolphins, butterflies and rabbits adding to the cute factor and I'm not even a massive animal lover. This alone was enough to buy it but then I noticed the six lovely shades inside and I was done for.

It's the perfect size for carrying around in your handbag and contains six perfect shades, three for everyday use and three other shades which are more daring and suited for a night time look. The palette also includes a mini eyeshadow primer and an eyeliner in the shade zero, both of which come in awfully handy. As well as this theres a mirror included which is another added bonus.

I was really suprised at the pigmentation of all six eyeshadows as in the photos above I've only swatched the colours once and as you can see the colour payoff is great. I'm not usually adventurous with my eyeshadow but Urb is the most gorgeous green shade and I think its definitely my favourite from the top row in the palette. On the second row its a much harder decision as these are my three most used, I'm a naturals gal what can I say. Half Baked and Smog which both feature in the famous Naked Palettes would have to be my favourites as together they create the perfect everyday look - I like to wear Half Baked across the lid and Smog in the crease. There is little fallout considering they are so glittery and they last all day which is truly amazing.

If anyone else has tried this palette or similar UD eyeshadows let me know? I really want to expand my collection since the quality is just amazing but I just don't have a clue where to start :) P.s my fingers are looking pretty dodgy but finger photos in general are awkward lol!
