Bedroom Inspiration

20 May 2015
If you've been reading lately, you'll know this time in two weeks I'll have moved house & I have so many mixed feelings already, I'm excited to decorate and live somewhere different but at the same time I'm sad to be living somewhere that I'm not used to and basically isn't my childhood home. Although I'm really trying to focus on the positives and I can't wait to redecorate my new bedroom so as you can imagine I've found myself browsing ikea and other shops home departments rather than the aisles of Boots lately & I thought I'd share a few pieces or ideas whilst I went!

The first thing that's absolutely essential is a new bed and I'm slowly coming round to the idea of a day bed instead as I can store so much in it, either that or a bed with an underneath so I can store plenty of boxes hidden from plain sight. The next thing hand in hand with a new bed is bedding, cushions and bed throws, I haven't quite made my mind up on the new colour scheme but I'm definitely over whelmed by the amount of choice there is!

Since it's a smaller bedroom I'm moving to, I'm really having to make the most of the space I do have or will have (it's a real ikea sort of job), I'm planning on putting up shelves along the top of the room to store books on, as well as a few candles to make the room smell nice, a few photo frames to hold my most cherished photos & photo albums - something I could never end up having enough of and also some plants to cheer the room up a little!

I also really want to get a small DVD tower to go between the end of my bed, my TV and my wardrobes which will take up next to nothing space wise and hold a heck of a lot, like I need it to! I'm hoping it'll just fit right in :) I also quite like the idea of having fairy lights along the top of the room or bed (how tumblr right?) to make the room a lot more cosy & im still deciding what sort of light fixtures to get. I also wanted a standing light frame but I don't know if I'll have the room so I might have to settle for a desk lamp instead (minus the desk)

Another thing I'm really hoping to get is a nice print or two for my walls, I'd especially like a vintage faded sort of print/world map (I'm a true geography student) & a full length mirror so I can check I don't look an absolute state throwing everything on me in the morning whilst I'm half asleep! Also I'll need to find some smaller storage solutions, I'm debating whether to get muji containers for my makeup or not, what do you think, does anyone have them at present? And a few little colourful bowls to keep smaller rings & other bits and pieces stored in :) and that's it, let me know if there's anything I've forgotten for decorating or any nice patterns/colour schemes etc! I don't do very many of these type of posts but I'd love some inspiration!

Thanks for reading, Jenny xo
P.s does anyone have muji storage, or what's the favourite part of your room/decorating?

A Blogging Update

3 November 2014
It feels like forever since I've sat down & written a post, since I had a lot of pre-planned posts, maybe it's been a month but I have an excuse, October was a crazy & stressful month for me. I spent a lot of time sorting my work, university etc and balancing somewhat of a social life in amongst it all. I think the change in the weather may have also played a part in the lack of blogging, it's so hard to take photos with decent lighting... something I've never had to really deal with before.

berry lips were out in full force // the closest I've got to an ootd post so far // 21st Birthday Celebrations // I may have bought some Christmas nails to get in the season // More celebrations // No trip to Ikea is worth it unless you try their hot chocolate // Ikea show houses are amazing // Festive nails // Halloween Selfies

Lifestyle posts aren't posted as much as I'd like on this blog but we're all friends here and that'll probably change, I don't think I've written an update post like this before. October was filled with more ups and downs that I can count and blogging just fell by the wayside (completely unintentional of course) but it's a new month and I'm determined to get my normal blogging routine back on track. A main incentive for this is my little blog reached 600 followers on Bloglovin' which I'm still completely shocked about but ever so grateful and I'll be announcing my giveaway sometime soon.

I've also been enjoying catching up with all of my friends that I don't see as often I'd like and celebrating a lot of 21st birthdays too, it seems everyones birthdays are within a month of each other! My iphone also arrived and I've been abusing Instagram like there's no tomorrow so if you want to see my daily posts on there you can do so here (link here). My provisional license arrived too in amongst many shopping parcels from ASOS so I'm eager to start revising for my theory and I'm hoping to pass my actual test by my 21st (fingers crossed).

Another major thing is that I got a new job which I already love, this is a massive thing for me because I always find job interviews so daunting but luckily this wasn't too bad and it'll probably take up a lot of my time in the build up to Christmas. That and my placement which is finally sorted will take a lot of organisation but I'm still making blogging a priority so I can see I'm going to be even more organised than usual. I also got a much needed hair cut and although the hairdresser probably took a couple of inches at most off, its made all the difference!

Halloween was also a major event this month and I think since Thursday I've had about 10 hours sleep all together so an early night is long overdue. I've also been loving Taylor Swift's new album 1989 which was released earlier on in the week and it's been on repeat 24/7, talk about obsession ey. The only other exciting thing is it's 51 days to Christmas and everyone's in the Christmas swing of things, I've already seen my first tree of the year and it's only three days after Halloween which is crazy! Now mine probably won't be up for another few weeks but I'm extremely excited to start my Christmas shopping and mainly just enjoy what's left of the year.

I know this was a long and rambly post but that's what I do best and I thought it'd be nicer to update you all on what I've been up to rather than just a "I'm sorry I forgot to blog for a month" but from now on I'll be back to normal. Hope you enjoyed reading it :)

P.s what have you been up to through October? do you ever just take blogging breaks?

Catch Ups & Tea Breaks

12 July 2014

This weeks flashed right before my eyes, in fact my whole Summer is! Last night and today we were celebrating the 11th of July, its a big thing here, if I'm honest I just enjoy the friendly atmosphere and of course the lovely yet too warm bonfire which singes your eyebrows off practically. I've also been meeting up with friends and of course shopping so in between all that and the sunny weather I only managed to get three posts up and including todays post four. The first post (link here) was more lifestyle related and all about printing photos, the second (link here) was beauty related and based on Glamour magazine and the third (link here) was all to do with summer fragrances.

I've come to realise that may not be a lot compared to other bloggers but it is for me who only used to post once a week - its also a bit ridiculous that I haven't came up with a blogging schedule yet but I'm honestly not that organised. I think if I made one I'd end up giving up after a few days anyways and thats unfair but I'm going to try and post at least three posts per week and one on Sundays! If you have any suggestions or posts you'd like to see on my blog please leave me a comment, I love getting new suggestions about this sort of stuff.

Thanks for reading, Jenny xo
P.s do you prefer a catch up post like this or my usual weekly rambles?

Music I'm Loving #1

5 April 2014
So this may be a little different to my usual posts but I'm nosy and love reading more personal posts on blogs, I feel like you get to know the author ten times better. As you might be able to tell from the picture or title, either one, this post is basically telling you all about my favourite songs at the moment - who knows I might even make it a regular thing if people actually enjoy it.

As you might be able to tell  from the picture, I have a thing for One Direction, I have done since I watched them audition solo on xfactor and my obsession love for them has only grown. Their most recent album is always on repeat but since the release of the video for Midnight Memories its been played about a billion times, not going to lie. The majority of the music I've been loving this month is predominately chart music but I do listen to a variety of genres I swear :) As for keeping in with the boyband theme I haven't been able to get either 5sos' song 'she looks so perfect' and The Vamps 'last night' out of my head - both are unbelievably catchy and I can't help but hum and sing along when I hear them.

I've also been loving Ellie Gouldings song 'Goodness Gracious' as its so upbeat and just has an all round summer vibe to it, in fact all of the songs I'm listing are upbeat - must just be a happy music period. Little Mix were doing their bit for Sport Relief and released 'Word Up', another great song, again I love these girls and I'm actually so excited that I'm seeing them again in a month or two on their tour. The last but not least song I've been enjoying is definitely a love or hate song, its #selfie by The Chainsmokers, at first I couldn't stand it but its grown on me due to my housemate overplaying it, its also hilarious being out at night and it coming on in the club resulting in everyone drunkenly taking selfies and looking absolutely ridiculous.

You've most likely heard all of these on the radio but if you haven't open up Youtube and give them a listen, I'm sure you'll love them. If anyone has any songs/bands they think I should check out be sure to let me know? I love discovering new artists :)
