Zara Bag Haul: I think I'm addicted

I definitely think my handbag obsession started from a young age, I always remember having a mini version of my mums usually from Claires or somewhere and thinking I was a big girl. Over the years my handbag collection grew until finally I had a huuuge clear out and stripped it back to a few of my favourites and told myself I didn't need anymore! I always thought bigger bags were better because I could practically fit everything but the kitchen sink in but with my back forever hating me, I knew this needed to change! I'm a real sucker for Zara and its beaut clothing but they're accessories are so underrated especially their bags and a few weeks back after I saw the red handbag online I knew I needed it in my life and because you can't just buy one thing one it's own, I picked up two more ....

My favourite of the three is definitely the Red Crossbody Bag which has intricate insect details and a gold chain strap. At first I saw this in black and was on the fence but once I saw the red, it was perfect. I wear a lot of monochrome and so a bag like this would give any outfit that gorgeous pop of colour. I actually brought this with me when I went to a family wedding a few weeks ago and it went perfectly with a black & white skirt and black, I think I shared it on insta! It's also really affordable at £15.99 and I know I'll get so much use out of it! Any excuse I have I opt for this little bag and with it just about fitting my phone (which is bloody massive), lipstick, purse, chewing gum etc basically the essentials, it's a winner!

As I said the other two bags were impulse buys but with the transition into Autumn, burgundy or maroon is one of my favourite colours to wear and whereas the red bag seems more Summery, this will last me well into the Autumn/Winter months. It's  crocodile skin texture (fake of course) but it makes it all the more interesting, it has gold hardware again and two little sections to keep all the important bits and pieces in! It also has a long strap too so I can either carry it or wear it over my shoulder, all depending on the outfit. This one I haven't used too much but I can definitely see me wearing it non stop in the coming weeks.

Lastly, my brown clutch. Now I know this one won't be to everyone's tastes but I love it, there's three sections to the clutch. One is a leathery effect, the second suede and the third snake skin. I'm definitely seeing an animal theme going on but I feel like it just makes it stand out all the more. I thought this would be perfect for a darker or plainer outfit throughout the Winter, giving it something without being too in your face! I also love tan and have plenty of tan/nude shoes that this will match perfectly. It was only around the £5/6 mark so I couldn't say no, one of my best bargains in a long time.

All in all, I'm loving all three and although I could say I've probably got the bag buying bug out of my system, that's probably a lie and it's only made me want to buy more cute bags! I think I'm addicted. Have you bought any new bags lately or for A/W?

My Graduation Day!

Hi there! I know my most recent post was a graduation post as well (read here) but it's such an important day and with such an important day finding the perfect outfit is key. I'd had the usual panic in the weeks coming up to the day about what to wear... trust me it was hard.

Girls have more of a choice with what they can wear, yes but there's still the usual dilemma of  'what dress?', 'what style/colour?', 'what heels?' and the most important question: 'what if I fall?' It really is a struggle and so I thought I'd write this post to dicuss how I found my perfect dress in the end.

A lot of my friends had already found their perfect dress months before and I sort of panicked that three weeks before the big day I hadn't. I knew it was top priority but with my hectic schedule I knew that the time window I had to shop for the dress and accessories was limited. From the offset I knew I wouldn't be able to order it online although I'd seen soo many beautiful ones because it would be touch and go whether a) they'd arrive on time and b) fit me properly so a few trips to town were needed!

I thought the whole thing would be a bit daunting, the one thing I had been sure of was that I wanted something natural and quite plain so it wouldn't clash with my robe and hood which was green. I also thought it would take quite a long time to find something that I would fall in love with however after the first shop and seven dresses later, I had found the one. It was figure hugging, smart, simple and classy with such pretty lace detail. Once I had tried it on, I knew this was the one that I wanted and it wasn't until I reached the till that it was on sale too! I always assumed a graduation dress would be expensive but that's not the case at all as this one was from Miss Selfridge.

The only problem I had was finding shoes to match the colour of the dress exactly as they were more of a blush nude but eventually I managed to find just that from New Look. At the same time I realised that I wanted more of a statement clutch for the day and the dinner afterwards so I picked up this navy (also New Look) which had plenty of jewels and the blush colour running throughout. As for jewellery, I luckily managed to pick out the jewels in the clutch and match them perfectly to a necklace and bracelet from Next. I wanted something to stand out against the dress and around my robe with such a high neck line and this did just that. I then matched it with my silver Pandora rings and my Accessorize watch which again was a blush nude.

I wasn't able to book in to get my hair and makeup done as planned - my ceremony started at 11am and is 2 hours away from my house so we knew it would be an early one and nowhere would be opened in time. However us graduates actually needed to be there for 9:30am instead and so we had to wake up even earlier and I decided doing it myself would be the only option. I kept the makeup minimal for the day and curled my hair loosely the night before.

As for the ceremony itself, it was over in the blink of an eye and all those little worries about tripping on stage seem so far away. For a start, we had a ramp and so tripping wasn't even an option. In addition we were presented with our degree and shook hands with James Nesbitt - an actor from Northern Ireland and also our Vice Chancillor. Afterwards, we were able to catch up with all of our friends and lecturers with lunch spreads on in the gardens. I made sure to talk to everyone in amongst the glasses of wine and buns. Everyone was in such high spirits and of course photos had to be taken. Let me tell you: group photographs are so hard to organise, especially with 7 odd sets of parents all wanting us to look a certain way haha!

After giving back the gowns and hats, it was time to spend some quality time with my family. We went for a gorgeous lunch at the Bushmills Inn - it wasn't too packed but the food was absolutely delicious and the sun was out so it made the day all the more enjoyable. Before we started off on the trek home, exhausted from the day we stopped off for an ice cream by the sea and it was incredible. All in all, the past four years have been hard at times but definitely worthwhile and its hard to believe that Graduation day is finally over! As cliché as it may be, it's time for bigger and better things

Spring Haul 2015

The best thing about a change in season without a doubt is the new wardrobe that comes along with it, saying that I also needed a few bits and pieces to wear to work so shopping on payday seemed like a wonderful idea. I'll hold my hands up now and say a lot of the clothes are from Primark with a few other shops here and there but then again who doesn't love a Primark haul. I'm a summer baby so any excuse to wear summery clothes is a massive plus, I just wish we had the constantly warm weather that should be associated with summer.... if we do get it however, I'll be prepared.

Now these purchases have all stemmed from maybe two or three months occasional shopping trips, I think my bank balance would cry if I just went out in one shop and bought it all, in fact I think I would cry too! The first thing I picked up was a jumper from h&m in the sale for £7 (how summery of me) which is really lightweight and a speckled black & white colour, perfect for those nights when the suns gone down. Secondly I picked up a shirt from Primark which is a grey-mauve-y colour, it changes depending on the light but you can never have enough shirts and I think it was around the £6 mark. Then I managed to find this cute little top with elephant prints on it, although it's a crop top it's not that short which I love and it'll go well with jeans, leggings, anything really so in the basket it went too!

The next two shirt / tops I picked up from Primark are identical in style, just different in pattern, I thought it would be a nice change to have an open neck and rolled up sleeves when it's getting warmer but still remain smart enough for work. I couldn't decide between the two and I'm really trying to steer away from my 90% black wardrobe so I picked up the red option as well. 

This is probably my favourite thing in the entire haul or close to second (and second most expensive, around £22 but with student discount a little less and it's so worth it), I inserted a second picture just because the full length one doesn't do the playsuit any justice. It's a paisley print and the colours are gorgeous, maybe not your average summer colours but oh so pretty. This was from he New Look petite range, something I wasn't even aware of and it fits me perfectly which is always a struggle for us small gals and similarly to the shirts it has roll up sleeves. I can see this being a winner both for casual through the day wear or dressing up for going out at night with a pair of heels. I just love it! 

Whilst I was in New Look, to find the petite range I had to walk through the children's section and this kimono just sort of stood out to me - now I know it's children but honestly my mum tried it on and it fits her perfectly, it's not just me so there sizing must be massive, I think this is a 15 years but it's so pretty, did I mention being small has the ocassimal perks? I think it was £10 too so not breaking the bank either and it'll be a perfect cover up in the summer. After New Look I waltzed into Topshop & that never ends well so I tried to restrain myself as best as I could and only walked out with one thing, yes one, I'm extremely proud and it was this stunning playsuit from the petite range again which hugs the top half of me beautifully and has lace around both the arms and shorts - I'm dying for an excuse to go out just so I can wear it, is that bad? 

This pictures a little bit all over the place but I couldn't figure out how to display everything, in the end a floor shot worked. I can't get enough of these running/pyjama shorts from Primark (I always wear them lounging round the house) which are only £4, especially the floral & lace ones, they're so cute and I find myself looking for more every time I'm shopping. I also picked up a bandeau just for comfort, new bras from h&m, a camel & navy striped top from New Look which I can't stop wearing and my first pair of sandals of the year from Primark which were really inexpensive and look so nice. I find myself always reaching for tan rather than black shoes in the summer so I can see I'll get my wear out of them.

Lastly I picked up a few pairs of socks, you know the boring essentials & then this adorable pack of midi rings which I'm sure will keep me going for a while. The jewellery section was far too busy to have a good look but next time I'll be sure to have a peak. So that's everything that I've bought over the past wee while, hope you enjoyed it - I'm just really excited for spring/summer to properly arrive and it to be sunny a lot, wishful thinking I know... Accessorize Haul

Now this haul's long overdue, think two months overdue but somehow I've only got round to using the things properly now, am I the only one who loses things amidst their room for ages and then remembers about them? It seems so! Accessorize is a shop I love for their cute and bang on trend jewellery and bags especially in the spring/summer seasons but I haven't bought much from it because of its location, although there is one in the city centre its just seems out of the way and I always forget about it, thats about to change because their stuff is too cute to ignore!

You may think I'm overly strange buying a pair of slipper booties in March? usually I'd be the first to point out that you don't need them but in January thats not the case. I was also trying to be super organised for the end of summer/start of Autumn because its so hard to find a decent pair and I don't think my slippers at present are going to last me six/seven months so I'm prepared and have a back up if needs be. I also really liked the style & the colour and I'm not normally a blue kind of person -they have little pom pom's by the ankle and they're not too long, not too short, perfect ankle covering length so I can't wait to lounge around in these when the time comes.

The second thing I needed or convinced myself I needed was a new purse, I think I featured my purse I'm using at the minute in an old spending ban post, it's lasted me ages and although its still in tip top shape I've now gathered too many cards and theres not enough card slots. Its a lot harder than it sounds to find a purse with lots of card slots and so when I seen this one on the Accessorize website, plain black, sleek and professional with enough room for 13 cards and a hefty sized coin part in the back I knew it was ideal and into the basket it went.

Lastly I picked up this adorable handbag, perfect for Spring and for one of my friends upcoming birthday (this is only one present ticked off the list but its a start). I love the contrast between the light blue and navy, the straps also a good length for wearing over the shoulder and I especially love the gold embellishment. With handbags I hate having to squeeze everything into too small a bag or carrying around a bag, likely to make me look as if I'm going on a three week break but this I've found is the perfect size and I've a feeling my friend will be thrilled with it, I'm sort of sorry I didn't pick one up for myself at the same time  though! So thats all the things I picked up, let me know what you think!

Springs Arrived

I think its safe to say, Spring has sprung & I couldn't be happier! This was a bit of a spontaneous post this morning on the train and luckily enough I had the photographs to go alongside it in a draft, points for organisations please! This is a shorter post of mine just to welcome in the new season - the first few days of the month have been a bit dubious and just yesterday it was bloody freezing, wet, miserable and gale force winds yet this morning it's as if none of that even happened. 

Luckily enough from our kitchen window we've a view of over the city and it just so happened that whilst I was eating breakfast today the sun was rising so of course I snapped a picture and put in on Instagram (links on the side) if you want to have a nosey - definitely a nice start to the morning. What is it with the sun and lifting everyone's spirits? Usually the dreary train commuters in the morning are just that, dreary and today they were all positively beaming as if it was the height of summer. 

I decided to embrace the weather and ditch the boots & socks I've been wearing solidly since the end of Autumn to my new shoes which show ankle and have cut outs - how daring right? I then decided to put my most spring appropriate lipstick on, my prized YSL lipstick which is pictured above and although I'm not the biggest fan of shimmer, this isn't sticky or overdone, it's perfect! Sadly I left the sunglasses at home, which I'm sort of regretting now as I'm making that really unattractive squinty face when the suns in your eyes out of the train window  - luckily no one can see in! 

As soon as the sun arrives everyone embraces the colour and brights in their wardrobes (or pastels) and it's such a nice change, since my wardrobe is 95% monochrome, I just add a coloured cardigan or the like but still I try. I don't think it's warm enough for crop tops and short just yet but I like that we're on the way - sometimes it's nice to leave the coat at home! And also Easters right around the corner, that's definitely sneaked up on me, 2015s whizzing by and with working all summer I'll definitely be making the most of the sun we do have when I can it the weather has cheered me right up.

Beauty / Skincare Haul: January 2015

Usually in January everyones tries to spend as little as possible with the January blues and all that but I've actually been doing the opposite and spending too much. Now I know a lot of these things I needed (or so I tell myself) but as soon as you step foot in abouts that strong mentality and self control go straight out the window so I got a little carried away. So it's all built up and since I love a good haul I thought it'd be fun to share, this is more my drugstore haul and I have a higher end one coming up soon so keep your eyes peeled ;) and enjoy! 

I needed another Rimmel stay matte powder to set my makeup with, that was all and it spiralled into all of this. Since we've been going through a bitterly cold weather phase which sucks all moisture out of your skin, I thought I needed a new moisturiser for my face, turns out the Garnier ones were on offer so I picked up the illuminating light lotion with the hope of not looking so zombie-esque in the morning, and it seems to be working. For the parts that need that extra moisture I picked up The Body Shops Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream which should hopefully do the trick. 

Eyeliners something I go through phases with and at the moment I'm definitely going through a love phase, my eyeliner skills are terrible but at least I attempt it. I'm forever repurchasing the Collection eyeliners because they're wonderful but lately I've been using my kohl Urban Decay eyeliner and loved it so I thought I'd pick up a cheap one from Miss Sporty.  In a moment of spontaneity I also picked up a brown kohl eyeliner from Rimmel in the shade Sable for the days I want a more natural look. I've never been one for brown eyeliner but I'm slowly coming round to it. The third and final eyeliner I bought was the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner in Noir - this was unexpected and if I'm honest I just filled the shopping basket with it so I could get qualify for free delivery oops but I'm sure it'll be a nice alternative on those days when I can't find my collection one (so a lot) 

For a while now I've been using as little as possible of my Garnier eye makeup remover (sort of like micellar water but better) to make it last but then it finally gave up and I had to buy a replacement because it's blooming brilliant and perfect for those nights when you quickly want to take your makeup off and crawl into bed. It's also good for sensitive skin and a little does go a long way so it's well worth it's small price tag. These never seem to be shown but deodorant, everyone needs it? I picked up one of the compressed sprays as they were on offer and it smells pretty good so it must be doing its thing. 

On the smelling front, nice smells don't worry, I picked up an impulse spray in Romantic Spark, usually I stick to True Love I think but I wanted a different scent. These are so handy to chuck in a handbag instead of bringing perfumes and being afraid they'll smash (maybe it's just me) and they're as cheap as chips to replace, win win. Lastly I picked up the Cuticura anti bacterial hand gel, it's been out of stock in this size and smell for the longest time and I don't particularly like their other smells so I knew I needed this, again. I think that's everything, I did buy a few bits and pieces for a giveaway so they'll be up soon :)

Dear Santa: Wishlist

From time to time I love a good wishlist and whats better than making one at Christmas time, I think its a habit of mine to make really unrealistic and blooming long lists, did anyone else ever cut out half the Argos book for Santa just because it looked pretty? Well at least I'm older and they're a bit better than what they were (well I try) but this is still a hefty wishlist and I wouldn't even expect half of it, not to mention it would probably give my parents a heart attack! I still thought I'd publish it on here because I love reading wishlists and getting some inspiration for my own, so I hope it helps.  

Of course theres some makeup bits and pieces on there like a Nars blush, their foundation and concealer mainly because I couldn't justify buying myself it through the year, a MAC lipstick to add to my collection, MAC Fix+ because I've heard so many good things, a paintpot because one is not enough and a replacement of my Studio Fix. Theres also some lip crayons from Soap&Glory, there is an actual set including three that you can buy but I couldn't find the link for it. I think that's pretty good on the makeup side of things. I did also mention the Zoeva brushes which are stunning and would look amazing, hint hint on my dressing table. 

I also included a lot of miscellaneous items like fairy lights for my room because I can never find any that don't resemble Christmas tree lights, a diary and organiser for the new year, socks as I'm forever losing mine - I swear someone steals them, a watch in brown and black - just plain staple ones that'll go with everything and still look pretty, some jewellery (maybe) and a phone case for my iphone 5 because again I can never find any that I like. 

Also some perfume is a lovely stocking filler and this year I'm hoping that I get One Directions You and I perfume and Christian Dior's J'adore - both smell incredible. Whilst we're on nice smelling things anything from Lush is a lovely gift or even Soap and Glory too. I did ask for the Emma Hardie cleansing balm which was in a set and almost half its usual price, a pair of GHD's (there a long time investment ;)), a Zara City Bag and some Disney DVD's.  

As I said at the start I would never expect even half of this but these are things on a very long list of things I would like and I'll probably buy myself them throughout the new year but I just thought I'd share as it might give others a late idea of what they want.

Summer Clothing Haul

Summer sales are possibly the best and the worst thing for my bank card - good because I can buy a new wardrobe and not feel guilty about spending a fortune, bad because I tend to go a bit overboard. This year though I seem to have had some self control and my sales shopping has been kept to a minimum but I still thought I'd show you guys what lovely things I've managed to pick up. 

The first place to shop was h&m, I love their clothes and whenever they have a sale if you have the patience you can always find a bargain. I didn't have anything particular that I wanted but then I saw this black and white stripy crop top I thought it would be perfect for a cooler summer night as its a loose material and can be jazzed up or down depending on the occassion.

Whilst I was paying at the till, this little black dress caught my eye and it was only when I picked it up that I noticed the entire back to the waist was made up of lace - perfect for a night out when you don't want to go overboard but still look as if you've made an effort, plus it was only £4 so how could I not get it!

Sadly Topshop was one of the last places I popped into and it was closing (therefore closed changing rooms) and me not able to buy half the stuff I wanted - I was in need however of a plain short sleeved tee to wear with jeans and this fitted all the boxes. This is supposedly a size 8 but I'm pretty sure its way bigger, don't know whether its due to the batwing sleeves or not but just as well I love a baggy tee. 

Another place that I didn't have nearly enough time in was Zara, it was absolutely packed and there wasn't a chance of me looking around everything however I did find this little gem! Its not usually a colour I'd go for (peachy/pinky pastel) but I really liked it together with the bird print.

Urban Outfitters is one of my favourite shops and so visiting their sales was a must! I thought this little top would be perfect with jeans as well (I have a thing for spots too) and its so comfortable - that and it was only £5! Now I know UO have good sales but £5 is an ultimate steal even for them :)

This is probably an odd thing to buy in the midst of summer but I couldn't not buy it - it screamed the perfect Christmassy winter jumper and so I bought it with the intention of packing it away in my wardrobe until at least Autumn. I'm a serious baggy jumper fiend and this is far too cosy! Red isn't usually my colour but I thought why not step out of your comfort zone a tad and I'm seriously glad I did. Urban Outfitters, you've made me very happy (especially as it only cost around£10).

As for accessories I bought a black and white aztec print bag from Topshop, surprisingly I don't have any small bags and I don't want to be hauling around a massive shopper if I'm just popping down the road so I bought this solely for just putting my purse and phone in and being on my way. Also I wanted a brighter purse one that would easily stand out in the bottom of a handbag so I picked this one up from Monki at Asos and so far I love it. 

The last two things that I bought was a gold hexagon necklace from Topshop (if I could buy all of their jewellery range I would), minimal but pretty and a spiky silver ring from H&M which I love. I used to have a ring just like this but I don't know where it ended up so its nice to have another :(

Although all of this may seem like a lot or not to some people, this was all bought in the space of about 2 hours so I think I did quite well in finding it all. Plus there were so many bargains and all together I saved well over £100 - definitely a happy girly! I'm still getting used to photographing clothes, its rather odd but if you'd rather see OOTD's or how I style the clothes, I'd be happy to do that, let me know in the comments below :)

All about midis

One trend that I've really been loving lately is mid rings, in the summer we all reach for brights or pastels on our nails and a lot more attention whether we like it or not is drawn to our hands and this is where midi rings come in. They come in a variety of sizes, colours and styles, can basically be picked up anywhere and of course make your hands look cute as! I just can't get enough of them :) These particular rings I picked up from Primark last week (believe it or not) and they haven't been off my hands all week.

More often than not I'm a silver jewellery type of gal, gold just doesn't seem to suit me no matter how much I want it to and so these are just perfect. I also like the fact that these aren't just a single band and have unique shapes such as the triangles, it makes them stand out more. I've actually had quite a few compliments on them already and for the price I can not complain, I think they were something like £1.50 which is close to nothing for indulging. Now I know Primark is no stranger to overcrowding a lot of the time but if you have some patience I definitely recommend hoking around the jewellery section for these little ones, if it helps they come in a set of four with a single banded ring as well.

If I'm honest I always get scared of rings getting stuck on my fingers so I got a medium size but they're still slightly big on me so I can always have the option of wearing them a little further down my fingers as well, depending on how I'm feeling. Bonus! For this post I had a bit of a layout change about, I had to post via the app rather than my computer so I'm not too sure how its going to look but let me know if you prefer it or not to the usual setup? Also I know fashion related posts aren't really my forte but I tried to branch out a little. I hope you enjoy this different type of post :)

Seeing One Direction // OOTD

This is definitely a very different type of post for me to publish but instead of primarily focusing on beauty, I want to be able to post lifestyle posts as well so in a few years I can look back at all the memorable things and lovely things that have happened. So on the weekend I travelled to Dublin which is quite a way from where I live, I think it was two hours on the coach, for One Directions Where We Are tour at Croke Park and it was incredible. 

Before the crowds arrived or the night began I took a picture of Croke Park itself, hard to believe its nowhere near filled // 5sos' stage ready to go // 5sos performing // how much of a health and safety risk is this stage, skate ramps everywhere, no wonder Liam fell // the boys at the start of the show // taking instagram questions and sheltering from the rain // Harry being Harry // love Niall's eyes here // Liam singing // saying goodbyes // end of the show fireworks // my ootd 

I'm not sure how the whole typing thing is going to work around the pictures as theres a lot (I'm sorry but when you're at a concert, photos are a must) but as I've mentioned before I love One Direction, ever since they formed and I'll probably always have a soft spot for them. They're music always cheers me up because its so upbeat, they all seem like lovely boys and they're all gorgeous.... yes, yes and yes. Even if you're not a fan, you're a fan ;) 

So we travelled to Dublin and did a spot of shopping before the concert as we arrived mid afternoon however in true Irish weather (we don't have a summer) it bucketed down and everyone was drenched, perfect. Luckily we had seats which were sheltered but I felt for all the people in the standing area who were soaking and cold, I'm sure. The rain lasted all night as you can probably tell from the photos above and Niall even joked that it was normal May weather and that all the other boys didn't know what rain was. Everyone sitting around us was so excited and friendly and soon enough 5 seconds of summer were on stage, I remember seeing them last year at the Take Me Home tour and its amazing to see the difference a year can do, they were great and I found myself humming away to Don't Stop hours after the concert, such a catchy tune. 

The concert seemed to fly in, unfortunately but the atmosphere in Croke Park was something else, everyone was out of their seats and singing at the top of their lungs. Not to mention anytime Niall so much as breathed, let alone talk or sing the screams and cheers were deafening, as expected. If possible I fell in love with them all over again and the fireworks at the end just topped off a wonderful night. I also took a quick picture when the concert was over, just to say I'd been (now remember I'd been in the rain and cold all day so its not the best) but I just wanted to show what I wore, comfy travel clothes at its finest.
